No Need to Aim - Just Throw & Hope for Splash Damage
One of my favorite pieces of Paintball Gear of all time are the Paintball Grenades.
As a military veteran I have experienced what grenades are like for real, and they are just an interesting piece of weaponry.
Although they are not exactly the same, they are very similar in how they act and their purposes (except paintball grenades are not meant to hurt people, unlike real ones).
In case you did not already know, the point of using grenades is to deal what is called “splash damage,” or “area-of-effect.”
Rather than having to aim and hit your target dead on, a grenade allows you to toss a small item (the grenade) towards your enemy and when it explodes it lets out paint (thus “tagging” anyone within range that is not covered).
These can be used from behind walls (by tossing the grenade over), on Paintball Bunkers (by tossing them in the bunker), or just by throwing them at an enemy and running away.
If you would like to take it a step further, you can even Make Paintball Grenades. Although these will most likely not work like the ones you buy, they can still be pretty fun to use!
When it comes to Paintball Rules, it will really depend on the fields and games you are playing. In some games you will not be allowed to use grenades and in others you will be able to.
The same goes for fields. Make sure that you understand the rules for wherever and whatever you are playing at the time, so you can ensure you are not going against them.
Strategy-wise it is best to use the Paintball Grenades when you are either up against many people in the open or are trying to clear a room indoors (if there are any).
These are great because of their splash damage, greatly enhancing the chances of hitting at least one person.
At the same time, you will also want to avoid putting yourself into those situations. By doing so you greatly decreases the chances that you will be caught by an enemy grenade!
Overall, when used correctly the grenades can be a great asset. At the same time, they can also be your worst enemy.
Play safely with them, make sure that you are allowed to use them before doing so, and most important of all, have fun!
